I am honoured to publish this book on the occasion of the Bank’s 120th anniversary. It is a humble tribute to the leaders whose vision and effort shaped the Bank’s growth and stature. I had long wished to bring out a coffee table book that would help the present generation understand and appreciate the Bank’s remarkable journey.
My special thanks to the former Chairman, Shri S. Balasubramanian, for retrieving material on the Bank’s early years from the archives and compiling it. I am also grateful to Shri R. Mohan, Director and earlier as part-time Chairman, for his insightful inputs based on his close association with key events. I wish to record my special appreciation for Shri. K. S. Susindar who compiled this book in current shape and in close coordination with Shri. S. Balasubramanian and Shri. R. Mohan.
It is my proud privilege to place in your hands this 120 year milestone coffee table book featuring towering national leaders and celebrities who have participated in the Bank’s events.
This book was released by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Government of India, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and the first copy was received by Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. Shri R.N. Ravi, Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu and Smt. Geetha Jeevan, Honourable Minister of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment of Tamil Nadu shared the dais on 2nd September 2025 at Chennai at a function to celebrate 120 years of “Swadeshi Banking Legacy”.
This updated edition covers the events till 30th April 2026, the date I am completing the maximum regulatory permissible tenure of 15 years and handing over the charge from 1st May 2026 to my successor, Shri R. Vijay Anandh.
