FAQ Xorkee handle

12.Can I install xorkee App across multiple mobiles / laptops and use the same handle?

xorkee app can be installed in any number of mobile phones or laptops without limitation. If you have your key in a crypto-token, you may use it on any of the mobile phones or laptops at hand. If your key is in the TEE of a mobile phone, you can use it only on that mobile phone.

13.What is the use of xorkee handle?

xorkee handle is an identifier which you can share with service providers to reach you for obtaining digital signature. It is much simpler to remember your handle which is in a friendly format. Registering your digital certificate with your service provider requires you to know more about how to extract a certificate, etc. xorkee handle takes away those complexities and helps you register easily.

14.How do I know if a handle is available?

You will not know it until you actually register in xorkee. If a handle that you typed is not available, you will get an error “Registration failed! Handle already registered”. Try with a different combination, the way you try to get an email account.

15.How do I know which are the xorkee enabled applications?

The xorkee enabled applications are listed in the xorkee profile manager. You can view them by accessing https://profile.xorkee.com

16. How do I know if there is an update to xorkee app?

Just like other mobile apps, you will get notified on your mobile or PC.

17.Will xorkee work if I’m not connected to Internet?

No, xorkee requires an internet connection to work.

18.What if I have two certificates in the same token?

You can register a token with xorkee service only once even if it contains multiple certificates. You will need to cautiously choose which signing certificate needs to be used. xorkee will list all the certificates in the token allowing you to choose the certificate that you want to associate with your xorkee handle. However, if you had chosen the wrong certificate in the token, you can still change the certificate/key associated to your handle using the ‘change key’ option in the app.

19. What if I have two tokens with digital certificates?

A given digital certificate token can be registered only once with xorkee service even if you have multiple certificates in it. Depending on your choice you can register the digital certificate tokens independently with xorkee. If you choose to use both the tokens, you should get two different xorkee handles and register the appropriate handle with the business application depending on which certificate/token you want to use with that application. For example, if you have a digital certificate token issued by your business application or service provider, you can register that certificate with xorkee and obtain a xorkee handle. This xorkee handle can be registered with that business application instead of registering your digital certificate. Similarly, you may also have a digital certificate token issued by a qualified Public Certifying Authority (CA). This certificate can also be registered with xorkee and the xorkee handle can then be shared with all business applications that require a qualified CA issued digital certificate.

20.Should I install both xorkee app in phone and xorkee application in PC?

xorkee provides you the freedom to use your crypto token on phone and PC. Based on preference of usage (phone or PC) you can install the xorkee app. It is recommended that you install in both phone and PC, so that you may authorise in any of these systems by connecting the token. In conditions like your phone is not available or run out of charge, you may install xorkee application in any PC close by, connect your token and carry out your transaction. The key is with you securely in the token and your transaction is fully secure, even if you connect your token to a foreign PC. xorkee app in phone has a provision to use the phone’s secure storage area (TEE) to create a key and register with xorkee. Since the key is in the mobile phone, you can authorize your transactions only from that mobile. Thus TEE users need not install xorkee application on PC.
